Terrible Accident: Several Dead, Others Injured As YY Bus Overturns Along Mbale-Tirinyi Highway!

Three people have been confirmed to have been killed in a fatal accident that occurred along the Mbale-Tirinyi highway.

According to the territorial police in Kibuku, an accident occurred May 17th, 2023, resulting in a fatal accident at Saala village along Tirinyi Mbale High, involving motor vehicle registration number UBG 400c belonging to YY Bus Company Limited.

The accident that occurred at around 8:30 pm came when the Bus that was travelling from Kampala to Mbale lost control and veered off the road before the bus overturned killing three people on the spot and wounding a couple of other passengers.

The deceased have been identified as Mohammed Ntege, the bus driver and resident of Namakwekwe ward in the Mbale City Northern City Division, and two minors whose identities are yet to be established.

These have been confirmed by Immaculate Alaso, the North Bukedi police spokesperson, who says;

“The preliminary information indicates that the driver of the above-mentioned bus, which was from Kampala heading to Mbale, lost control and went off the road, overturning, killing the three on the spot and injuring several others on board.”

Alaso stated that the police have launched an investigation into the accident to determine its cause. The names of the injured passengers have not yet been disclosed.

“The injured persons were evacuated and taken to Mbale Regional Referral Hospital for more attention.” She said.
