Uganda’s mighty Victoria University has launched another big deal dubbed ‘Learn German-Work In Germany’, a program that will connect its students with exciting job opportunities in Information Technology (IT) and Tourism & Hospitality sectors in Germany.

The program was launched on 20th May 2023 at the University’s main campus at Victoria Towers, Plot No. 1-13 Jinja Road. The launch was graced by the University’s Vice Chancellor Prof.Lawrence Muganga and Mr. Jorg Schafer CEO, Arbeitsvermittlung Westfalen-Lippe (AWL), a job recruitment company based in German.

At this launch, Prof Muganga appreciated the University’s partnership with Mr Jorg Schafer’s AWL company saying this will save many students who were at risk of living a jobless life.

”I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to Mr. Jörg Schäfer, CEO of AWL Germany, for his commitment and dedication in conducting the Germany employability training at Victoria University. His efforts in equipping our students with the necessary skills and insights for success in the German job market are deeply appreciated. Thank you, Mr. Jörg Schäfer, for your invaluable contribution to the professional development of our students,”

Prof Muganga added that the possibilities for his students have expanded, and they are thrilled about the remarkable achievement of securing a bright future for Ugandan graduates.

“Ugandans abroad send home over $1.2bn in a year. We also want to create jobs for our graduates. This is the reason we have gone for the Overseas Job Placement Programme in the United Kingdom and Germany,” added Muganga.

Prof Muganga said that the University’s students have already secured companies abroad willing to employ them as soon as they graduate. Apart from Germany, in the United Kingdom, they have partnered with CWG Recruit to support their graduate nurses and midwives to secure employment placements.

Meanwhile, Mr Schäfer in his remarks said when you have an opportunity to work in Germany, you can easily fly out, with your family; and they will all be availed of a medical cover, while in Germany.

At the same launch, AWL established a permanent German Language testing center at Victoria University, enabling Ugandans to learn and obtain the required language proficiency for working in Germany.

Now, if you don’t want to miss a chance of working in Germany, you better rush and secure a place at Victoria University. The University has already kicked off registration of July Intake for the 2023 academic calendar.
