“I am aware of your request of making Faith of Unity headquarters in Kapyemi, Kagadi district a tourist attraction and healing City. I, therefore, direct the Prime Minister to get in touch with the Minister of Tourism, Wildlife, and Antiquities to address this matter,” Museveni said.

Museveni’s directive was convened by Prime Minister Hon Nabbanja yesterday (June 11) while addressing the faith of Unity leader Owobusobozi Bisaka and believers during the 94th birthday celebrations since the faith was brought to existence.

“Tourism is a top foreign exchange earner for the country and the government under the NDP (III) identifies tourism as one of the key sectors which are driving the social economic development. Your request to make Faith of Unity birthday Date a public holiday to be celebrated National wide and also Healing / Tourism City is a legitimate cause,” Museveni said.

Museveni described the birthday of Omukama Ruhaga Owobusobozi Bisaka as an opportunity to celebrate his contribution to the promotion of Unity and development in the country

“By founding the faith of Unity, this created a platform for the people to exercise their religions and engage in development activities as well as fight evil practices such as witchcraft,” Museveni said.

Museveni lauded the leaders of Faith of Unity for promoting unity among the people.

He said the National Resistance Movement (NRM) government and the face of unity continue to enjoy cordial relations adding that the NRM government respects all religious freedom and encourages people to practice religions of their own.

He noted that the government has constructed roads, hospitals, and schools among other infrastructures that can be accessed by all Ugandans at no cost adding that however, he has identified that some headteachers in the government-aided schools are charging fees in these schools which has fueled the increase in the dropout rates of the children from schools.

“I want to urge the local leaders and the general public to stop this practice in our schools,” Museveni said adding that the government has embarked on wealth creation campaigns that aim at improving the household income in the country, I want to urge leaders at various levels to mobilize the communities to embrace these programs so that the parish Development Model (PDM) and Emyooga money reach and benefit the targeted population,” Museveni said.

Museveni appealed to the families to stop fragmenting their land and rather use their small pieces of land to start growing high-value foods as their source of economic transformations.

Referring to the toured stalls of the locally manufactured soap, fuel, sugar, toothpaste, and drugs from plants, the Minister of Finance Planning and Economic Development Matia Kasaija lauded the faith of Unity leaders and their fellows for their value addition on some of the products that they have come up with adding that government is willing to give them more help.

“We can see that you are using the current resources to make something useful to the community. This is a great milestone for us as Ugandans and if only we can have more people add value to the already existing resources, this will reduce our expenditure on importing goods,” Kasaija said.

Bisaka noted that his faith has always called for unity, and togetherness among his followers and other people adding that this is what they will always advocate for.

He said it’s really sad that religions from the Western world, and Arab countries are being taught in African schools yet the native faiths are looked at as evil by foreigners and even Africans

“In Africa, we know very well our culture and beliefs but we aren’t allowed to exercise our faiths.

We appeal to the government to give chance to our beliefs, religions to be part of the education system,” Bisaka adding that this should be set in Primary leaving examinations and other levels of education.

He revealed that he has extended the faith of Unity to many African countries such as DR. Congo, Tanzania, South Sudan, and Germany among others adding that he has also established a total of 35 dioceses (Obukwenda) across the world.

Omukama Ruhaga Owobusobozi Bisaka said because of the peace that was brought by the NRM, has enabled them to exercise their rights just like any other Ugandans without colliding.
