Lyantonde’s Kishemeire Patricia Appointed Ambassador Of International Municipal Cooperation Forum Of The BRICS For Uganda

By Patience Ampaire

Youths in Lyantonde district are astonished by the news of the appointment of their own to become the special representative/ambassador of the International Municipal Cooperation Forum of the BRICS for Uganda.

BRICS, originally named BRIC (Brazil, Russia, India, China), is an acronym for the regional economies of Brazil, Russia, India and China, which in 2010 included S for South Africa.

Ms. Kishemeire Patricia, 28, is the second born of Mr. and Mrs. Sam and Jovia Bwongyerwa with other five siblings from Kinuuka Sub-county, Lyantonde district.

She was raised in Kinuuka sub-county and studied at Vine Hill Preparatory and Kinuuka Primary Schools before joining Kibubura Girls and St Theresa Bwanda Girls.

She later joined Kyambogo University on Government sponsorship for a Bachelor’s of Science in Human Nutrition and Dietetics and later pursued a course in Food Systems and Sustainable Development at the University of Research, Wageningen in Netherlands.

While at Kyambogo University, she participated in politics as a guild president aspirant in the year 2017-2018 and later ran for Vice President Uganda National Students Association (UNSA) but failed on both attempts, however, she continued to bilaterally participate in youth politics.

In 2017, Kishemeire joined Uganda’s delegation to the 19th World Youth Festival in Sochi, Russia, a festival that was held under the theme, “For Peace, Solidarity and Social Justice, We’re Fighting Against Imperialism – Respecting Our Past, We’re Building Our Future”

While in Russia, she worked with colleagues from different countries some of which were from the BRICS economies which boosted her rapport and exposure to various dignitaries.

Before this latest appointment, she worked with Humanitarian NGOs in refugee response on improving household food security. Kishemeire is also the leader of REACH KABULA a new organization that will be launched in August this year aimed at improving household income, food security and climate-related activities.

She intends to use her new position to sign partnerships and mobilize funding for projects intended for developing Lyantonde district so as to support youth enterprises.

“I struggled to study while growing up, coming from a humble background, but God blessed me with a government sponsorship at University,” she noted adding,” if it wasn’t for the scholarship, I wouldn’t have been able to enroll in the university.”

To the young people, Ms Kishemeire says her life story is a clear validation that opportunities don’t just happen, one has to create them and fight for them.

She noted that she has already contacted area Members of Parliament on the possibilities of using the opportunity to do a number of projects in Lyantonde district including a convalescent waste management system and they are readily supporting the initiative.

SWIFT DAILY NEWS team; Frank Kamuntu, Patience Ampaire and other company members congratulate you Ms Kishemeire Patricia on this mega appointment. May God give you wisdom and power to achieve your expectations while serving humanity. You’re an inspiration!
