On Friday, the Office of the National Chairman coordinator for Bunyoro Sub-Region Mr. Tunura Brian had an opportunity to meet with the Prime Minister for the Bunyoro Kitara Kingdom Owek. Byakutaga Andrew Kirungi.

In the meeting that involved the Kingdom’s Chief Administrative Secretary Mr Alex Katusabe and Tourism Officer Mr Kasagama Godfrey, several issues were discussed considering how the Kingdom can work with the Office of the National Chairman in the implementation of its activities in the Bunyoro subregion.

Mr Tunura said that as the Office of the National Chairman, they are looking forward to implementing household empowerment projects among other activities to alleviate the Bazzukulu Ba Museveni and Ugandans in the Bunyoro Kitara Kingdom out of poverty.

He added that it is a norm of the National Resistance Movement to always work hand in hand with cultural institutions to implement various government programs for the social and economic transformation agenda of the general community.

Prime Minister Owek Byakutaga Andrew Kirungi was pleased to receive the ONC coordinator and pledged to have a smooth working relationship on all projects aimed to improve the livelihoods of the people of the Kingdom and strengthen the good relationship between the Kingdom and President Museveni.

However, he appealed to the Office of the National Chairman manager Hajjat Hadijah Namyalo Uzeiye through the regional coordinator to remind the President about the pledge to pay off the absentee landlords to resolve the escalating land wrangles in some parts of the kingdom.

He also conveyed his worry about the Congolese who sail across from the Democratic Republic of Congo and carry on fishing activities on Lake Albert traditionally known as Muttanzinge and yet the Ugandans in Buliisa district are stopped by the fishery authorities which is tarnishing the image of the government.
