Fear Women: 1yr Old Baby ‘Fetched’ From Smelly Latrine In Mityana, Mother Takes Off

Wamala Police Spokesperson SP Racheal Kawala says on 16/07/2023 at 2345hrs, the police, fire, and rescue services in Mityana successfully rescued an unidentified baby boy of one and a half years old from a pit latrine.

Preliminary investigations indicate that at Shell Wabigalo, Wabigalo LC1, Tamu division, Mityana district, an unidentified man heard a baby cry down a pit latrine.

He immediately informed a security guard identified as Wabkela Augustine, 22-year-old, who is attached to Neptune Security Services.

Upon inspection, Augustine confirmed that a baby had been dropped into the pit latrine. He quickly mobilized the neighbors for assistance and informed police fire and rescue services.

”Under the leadership of DPC Mityana and the rescue services, our task teams arrived at the scene in time and they successfully rescued the unidentified baby boy, who is currently receiving treatment at Mityana General Hospital,” says Kawala.

She adds that a case of child desertion has been filed, and efforts are underway to locate the parents of the victim as the investigation progresses.
