Kassanda: Several Killed As Fuso Lose Control Along Mubende-Mityana Highway

The territorial police in Kassanda have recorded a fatal accident that occurred on 13.08.2023, around 03:00am, at Myanzi Trading Centre in Kassanda district along the Mubende-Mityana highway. Regrettably, four (4) individuals have lost their lives, and three (3) others have sustained injuries.

Preliminary investigations suggest that a black Fuso Fighter motor vehicle, registration UAY 415C, loaded with matooke and heading towards Kampala from Mubende, experienced a brake failure. The vehicle lost control and overturned, resulting in the instantaneous death of four occupants and injuring three.

Wamala regional police spokesperson Kawala Racheal says that at present, the identities of the deceased remain to be confirmed. The injured have been identified as follows:

  1. Nambusi Grace, 40 years old, residing in Kikajo, Namasuba, Wakiso District.
  2. Bright Patrick, 34 years old, a business person residing in Kibiri-Busabaala, Wakiso District.
  3. Nadunga Lydia, 42 years old, a businesswoman residing in Kalerwe.

Kawala adds that the injured have been taken to Mityana Hospital for necessary medical care. Police have thoroughly documented and examined the scene of the incident. The bodies of the deceased have been transported to Kassanda Health Center IV mortuary, awaiting postmortem examinations.

”The motor vehicle involved has been towed to Myanzi Police Station pending an Inspection of Vehicles (IOV) assessment,” says Kawala adding;

”This tragic accident underscores the vital importance of responsible driving. Drivers are reminded not only to operate their vehicles prudently but also to ensure the maintenance and functionality of critical systems such as brakes before embarking on their journeys.”
