The police in the district of Lwengo, Bundibugyo and Rwampara are actively investigating 3 separate cases murders arising out of domestic violence. For instance, on the 18.09.2023, a one Kiiza Emmanuel, a 28 year old peasant farmer of Namabaale village, Ndagwe parish, Lwengo district, chopped off the head of his 3 year old son, Muwanguzi Augustine alias Kazungu, in a ritualistic act of murder for wealth.
The victim who was staying with his grandmother Tugumisiriza Florence, went missing, which forced her family to enter into the suspect’s house, after they saw him carrying a sack. They found a corner with fresh soil and upon searching it, they recovered the headless body of the 3 year victim.
Uganda Police Spokesperson Fred Enanga says they immediately alerted the communities in the neighboring villages, about the horrific murder, who caused the arrest of the suspect at Kyantale village. The angry mob recovered the chopped off head of his son, in the sack, and started beating him.
”He was however rescued and detained at Lwengo police station. The suspect who doubles as a boda boda rider, claims he was taking the chopped off head to Kampala to a Hajji, only known by face and Kiwewa Henry, of Makindye, who promised him a bag full of dollars, upon delivery. The victims T-shirt and red clothes with suspected blood were recovered and both head and headless body, transported to Masaka for post mortem and DNA analysis,” says Enanga.
In a separate development, the territorial police in Rwenzori West and Bundibugyo, have in custody a retired UPDF soldier, Bangi Ibrahim, a 55 year old who killed his son, Tumusiime Alali, a 22 year old peasant of Bundibugyo village, Bubukwanga sub-county in Bundibugyo district, using a bow and arrow, after his family attacked him, on the 23.09.2023, at around 11pm.
And then, police in Rwizi region, and Rwampala police station, have in custody a father, identified as Mucunguzi Wilberforce, aged 49, who together with his wife, tortured their son, Besisira Davis, an 18 year old, student of Rwampara Vocational, Bushenyi cell, Nyakabure parish, Rugando sub-county in Rwampara on the 23.09.2023 at around 4am. ”Efforts are in place, to trace for the mother of the victim, Natukunda Provia aged 44, who is on the run.”
The victim had gone into hiding after misappropriating school fees amounting to Ugx 640,000/=. The parents traced him up to the home of his Aunt and tortured him the whole evening till 4am. The victim was rescued by the area councilor, who pleaded for him and took him for treatment. He later escorted him to school. The victim’s condition worsened from his school at around 2am, and he was rushed to Kimono HC IV and succumbed to the torture injuries at 4am.
”We strongly condemn such acts of brutality, where children of all ages are viewed as property, and tortured to death. We call upon the community, local leaders, child defenders, to work with the Child and Family Protection officers and address the risks faced by children in toxic domestic settings,” says Police.
