Human Rights Chairperson Wangadya Petitions Gov’t Over Land Grabbing In Bulambuli

By Our Reporter

The chairperson of the Uganda Human Rights Commission has requested the government to rescue the land which belongs to the Nabongo sub-county in Bulambuli District. It’s worth remembering that Miriam was born in this very sub-county. This petition follows many other cases on the same matter.

Currently, Bulambuli is facing a couple of land cases and according to leaders, the government has given it a deaf ear. They say last month one person called Khisa Bosco went missing and up to now he has never been found. This matter has caused tension in the district with people thinking that this scandal is shielded by their leaders, hence calling the government to intervene and deal with the mafias.

”The local people even wrote to the state house anti-corruption to come and investigate this matter because they are worried that they might lose their land to these mafias,” said a local leader on condition of anonymity.

”In fact, we all know that the strong political figures in Bulambuli district are involved in these land scandals. Mrs Miriam Wagadya has opened the door for justice and we are yet to confirm what will happen in the forthcoming days,” added the source.
