The Uganda Revenue Authority was recognized for its transformative role in building Ugandan businesses by the Kampala Capital City Traders Association(KACITA).
The traders recognized John R. Musinguzi, URA’s Commissioner General as the Outstanding Leader of the Year- Government Agency award whereas URA scooped Government Agency of the Year.
In his speech to the awardees, Dr. Thaddeus Musoke, the Chairperson KACITA said that URA won the award of Government Agency of the year due to its proactiveness in engaging traders.
“From the start of this financial year, URA has stationed its tax education staff in the central business district. This has greatly impacted our (traders) journey to compliance. And for the Commissioner General , traders are so appreciative of the fact that you have a listening ear. Whether you know a taxpayer or not, you gladly listen. I cannot count the number of times we have engaged you as traders and had our problems solved. You really came as a blessing,” Musoke praised Musinguzi.
Receiving the awards, Musinguzi appreciated the cordial relationship between URA and the traders.
“I want to thank the members and management of KACITA who thought of us . Both as the best government agency and I as the best government agency leader of the year. When I think of it, I do not feel worthy of the awards but, what God has made you to do is to encourage us to do better,” Musinguzi said.
KACITA Quality Awards are annual awards given to People, Agencies and Companies that greatly impact businesses during a specific year.
