Revealed: Here Are Top Facts Behind ONC’s ‘Bazzukulu Newspaper’ & How It Targets To Empower Ugandans Socially & Economically

By Kintu Moses | Ass. Communications Officer ONC

On 28th November 2023, the Manager of the Office of the National Chairman the SPA Hajjat Hadijah Namyalo Uzeiye released the Bazzukulu paper on the Ugandan information market. The relevance of information is important for this millennial and X generation of the Bazzukulu to save them from perishing due to a lack of knowledge as emphasized in the Bible in the book Hosea 4:6.

Knowledge is a result of consuming the right information that enables addressing several challenges of the day.

Uganda Bureau of Statistics (UBOS) statistics informs us that 70% of Ugandans can ably read and write. This is a strong achievement of the National Resistance Movement (NRM)’s strategy to provide free education under the Universal Primary Education (UPE) and Universal Secondary Education (USE) programs to all Ugandans. Irrespective of the quality of education provided in Public schools, every Ugandan must be proud that unlike before, human resource development in Uganda under the steward leadership of HE Gen YK Museveni is a priority.

The Bazzukulu paper therefore targets 75% of Ugandans, with the youth forming the largest percentage of the population. Imagine, every financial year Parliament passes the National Budget with an elaborate of the incomes and expenditure, but the implementation runs without concern from the citizens. For example; In the FY 2023/2024 Ugx 52trillion Budget, no or fewer Ugandans can ever mind following up the expenditure in the 1st and 2nd quarters. This gap allows the corrupt in the Public Service to swindle away all these finances for their gains.

The Bazzukulu cannot fight corruption, poverty, HIV/AIDS, drug abuse, etc., without the right information. To date, you have witnessed the opposition successfully misinforming lies due to the negligence of the stakeholders both in the Government and State. The Bazzukulu paper focuses on the social, political, and economic aspects of the world with a concentration on Uganda and East Africa. Also, the Bazzukulu paper is a platform where Ugandans, especially the Bazzukulu can share their thoughts on how to better Uganda. Thoughts expressed in articles shall be shared with the almost 45 million Ugandans.

Concerns have been raised by some of the leaders in the country proposing an online paper with the assumption that all the Bazzukulu have access to smart forms and the internet, but the latest Uganda Communication Commission report reflects 30% penetration of smartphone with 70% using the basic or feature phone. In Information Management System, closing off the commonly known strategy to a modern one is criticized. Whereas innovation is called for, the ordinary newspaper channel of communication holds value in Uganda and the world over. The paper is targeting the Bazzukulu in schools, vocational institutes, and Universities, inclusive of those in the other labour set sector. They need to know how to access the Parish Development Model (PDM) and other programs, but how will they do it without the right information?

The Bazzukulu paper is to accommodate all thoughts of the elders, women, and youth as long as they line to achieving the objectives and goals of Uganda. The paper will be published monthly, at an affordable price, to make it affordable to the youth. The National Chairman NRM HE Gen YK Museveni on many platforms brings back to play the genesis of the pearl of Africa and the relevance of the 15-point program in making Uganda the best country for all in the world more her citizens, but less of his ideals to intensified for debate in the Bazzukulu generation. This paper aims to close that gap by sharing the ideals of the President on numerous agenda(s) for Uganda, East Africa, and Africa in general.

The Manager of the ONC Hajjat Namyalo with her invention of the Bazzukulu paper adding to the concept of Omalako Jajja Tova Ku Main is proving the worth of creativity as a pathway to addressing the abnormal tarnishing reputation of the National Chairman NRM, using and abandoning the young people, corruption, non-inclusiveness of the youth in decision-making, environmental degradation, and the surging of HIV/AIDS in the population.
