A 21-year-old woman identified as Velentina Phiri of Ng’ombe Village, Traditional Authority Kapelula in Kasungu District in Malawi has risen from the dead after she died in 2019.
According to Police information, her father Mr Slodia Phiri, 51, of the same particulars reported the matter to Ndola Police Unit.
Velentina collapsed on September 24th, 2019 at around 17:00hours while digging cassava at their garden and she was taken to Chamama Anglican Clinic where she was referred to Mtunthama Anglican Church Clinic unfortunately, she died while in transit in an ambulance and her burial took place on 25th September 2019.
It has been indicated that since then she appeared to several people, but later vanished before fully being recognized.
On 5th, July 2023 around 05:00 am a woman with a strange face appeared in the same Village where the father took her for prayers until her face resembled her daughter who died in 2019 and that happened during prayers.
A day after, she was completely recognized to be the one who died in 2019 and she was able to recognize the names of her relatives who came in to see her and she demanded for her national identity card which her father safely kept.
After police got the information, they visited the scene of the crime led by Station Officer for Kasungu Police Station S/Supt Ides Mlenga and they interviewed the parents as well as the resurrected woman and found the tomb where her body was buried with no cracks or openings.
“According to the resurrected woman during the interview, she said she could remember all that happened at the cassava garden where she collapsed including everything about her burial ceremony, but she had no powers to speak as she was in spirit,” police information indicated.
Currently, samples from all relatives for DNA tests has been collected and inquiries are still in progress to establish the truth of the matter.
