By Frank Kamuntu

The territorial police in Rwizi region and Mbarara district, are investigating the brutal murder of Ainembabazi Ruth, an 18-year-old S.6 vacist, and her mother Bashaba Frascisco, a 49-year-old, peasant, which occurred on the night of 5.01.2024, at Nsiika cell, Ntura parish in Mbarara district.

Uganda Police Spokesperson Fred Enanga says the facts gathered indicate that the mother in the company of her daughter went and visited her brother in Nsiika cell, where she received a call, from her husband Musinguzi Deus, aged 55, with whom they were not in good terms, asking about their whereabouts.

”The duo later returned to their home. They were not seen till 6.01.2024 when residents got concerned and checked their house. They found the two victims dead. Both their heads were smashed with a blunt object,” says Enanga.

Three suspects including the husband, Musinguzi Deus, her stepson, Ainemukama Julius, aged 25 and her co-wife, Kyohairwe Rosemary, aged 50 were arrested, due to an existing family and wrangle. They were the last persons who called the victims, before their death and were acting suspiciously.

”We do strongly condemn such murders within domestic settings, and would like to urge spouses to always have respect for each other and avoid taking the law into their hands. Investigations into the matter are ongoing,” adds Enanga.
