Economical! Netizens React To Raila Odinga’s Phone Tied With Rubber Band During Round Table Dinner With Wife

By Frank Kamuntu

Kenyans have been reacting to a viral video showing Raila Odinga’s party moments with his wife, Ida Odinga and political associates.

In a video shared on TikTok by @mohamedhussein, the veteran politician was in an all-white dress as he sat at a round table.

Close to him was his wife, all smiley and Mombasa governor Abdulswamad Sherrif Nassir who joined to celebrate Raila’s 79th birthday.

However, what most Kenyans noted was Raila’s phone that was placed directly in front of him on the table that had been tied by a rubber band.

Some wondered if it was his new swag or if the phone had a problem that it needed to be held together by a rubber band.

Some raised questions about the state of the device, while others took a lighthearted approach, suggesting playful explanations for the unconventional accessory.

Here are some of the comments from social media users:

@its Davie said: “No one is talking about the bladder in Baba’s iPhone.”

@Bonnie said: “Hiyo simu ya Baba kwanini ameifunga na bladder, anyway, let me mind my business. Happy birthday to him lakini.”

@Shirly M said: “If the phone is faulty, then tuchangieni Baba tumnunulie simu mpya aki.”

@Sherry said: “Baba amefunga rubber band kwa simu, anyway, happy birthday to him.”
