Two Dead, Eight Injured As Fuso Rams Into Boda Bodas & Pedestrians At Kawaala Junction

Uganda Police Traffic Directorate says two people have been confirmed dead and eight others injured in a fatal crash at Kawaala Junction in Nabweru, Nansana Municipality.

Traffic spokesperson SP Kananura Michael says the crash involved motor vehicle no. UAQ 539E Mitsubishi Fuso & Motorcycles No. UFS 111, UEP 598K & UFU 872P (all Bajaj Boxers).

The accident took place on 28.1.2024 at 12:40pm.

According to preliminary reports, the driver of the said motor vehicle while at Kawaala Junction from Kazo side sloping into the junction, failed to break and rammed into the said motor cycles and pedestrians, killing 02 people instantly.

“They are one passenger on one of the motorcycles, and a rider. 08 others who include pedestrians, riders and passengers on motorcycles were left injured,” says Kananura.

He adds that the injured have been rushed to Mulago for treatment whereas bodies of the deceased have been conveyed to the hospital’s mortuary for postmortem.

“Both the motor vehicle and motor cycles have been towed to Nabweru Police Station pending inspection. Investigations into the cause are underway,” adds Kananura.

“The hunt for the driver who is on the run has commenced.”
