Jimmy Sekasi Business Institute To Represent Uganda At World Food Competition In Kolkata-India

Uganda’s academic growth has seen mushrooming institutions but only a few have proved to be game changers and so committed to transforming Ugandans and among these is Jimmy Sekasi Business Institute (JSBI).

This mighty institute which is now a private limited liability company owned and run by Gombe Education Service (GES) owned by Owekitibwa Kyewalabye Male David was formally Jimmy Sekasi Institute of Catering which was established in 1989 by the late Jimmy Hannington Sekasi, who was murdered by the LRA rebels with 9 of his students on a study tour to Murchison Falls in Northern Uganda in March 2001.

The institute will be representing Uganda in a world food competition that will be held in Kolkata, India at Guru Nanak Institute of Hotel Management (GNIHM). The competition will run from 12th March 2024 to 15th March 2024.

According to the head of marketing Gombe Education Service, Ms Nansinguza Yvonnie, their institute will be competing with thousands of participants from 60 countries.

”It’s true Jimmy Sekasi Business Institute will be representing our country at the global food competition in India. We have already prepared our students and are vowing to achieve the best out of these competitions,” said Ms Yvonnie adding that this is an opportunity for them to learn from those schools they will meet at the competition.

This world-class institute which is dully registered by the Ministry of Education and Sports and also licenced by the National Council for Higher Education (NCHE) and accredited by Uganda Business and Technical Education (UBTEB) and the Directorate of Industrial Training (DIT), offers a couple of programs including diploma programs.

Diploma programs at JSBI offer students the opportunity to gain a comprehensive understanding of culinary arts, pastry arts, and hospitality as well as to learn the core culinary and associated skills required to work in the top professional kitchens, restaurants, and hotels in the world.
