Hon Otiti Lawrence Christ is a determined Northern Uganda Youth MP aspirant, warming up to unite the youths of this region if handed the responsibility of representing them in parliament come 2026 elections.
Otiti was born in Erute South, a rural area in Lira District. He is a student for Bachelor of Development Studies at Uganda’s mighty education hub Victoria University.
Hon Otiti draws his political zeal from the belief that; “it shall take the creativity of the youth to change the economic status of the people of Northern Uganda.” His leadership shall aim at forging unity among the diverse youth population of Northern Uganda as Unity is a key factor in development.
The youthful politician says is non-partisan, and believes in the empowerment, engagement and elevation of the youth to take up the responsibility of transforming the region without partisan, tribal and religious discrimination.
Unemployment is one of the major challenges faced by Uganda, with statistics putting the unemployment rate at 64% of the youth population national definition (15 to30) according to National Bureau of Statistics as of 2012. The country has gained relative stability in the 32 years of the NRM government but it hasn’t been able to create enough jobs despite the growth of the private sector over the years.
However, the above is not a threat for Otiti, he says; ”I believe that the challenges faced by the youth in the North can be mitigated when the young people are empowered, engaged and elevated to perform critical tasks in the region.”
He adds, ”My non-partisan approach aims at uniting all the youth of Northern Uganda so as to forge a path to prosperity and a secure future indeed.” He says however that; ”changing our status shall depend on our creativity.”
