Today, amidst heightened anticipation, Speaker of Parliament Anita Among and her husband, Hon Moses Magogo, were officially enumerated by Uganda Bureau of Statistics (UBOS) officials. Led by Executive Director Dr. Chris Mukiza, the enumeration marked a pivotal moment in Uganda’s preparation for the upcoming census.
The solemn occasion was not without somber reflection, as Speaker Among took a moment to extend condolences to the family of Mr. Andrew Ssali, an enumerator tragically murdered in Najjera, a Kampala suburb, just the day prior. The incident underscores the challenges faced by those tasked with conducting the census and highlights the need for enhanced security measures to safeguard the integrity of the process.
In her address, Speaker Among emphasized the importance of meticulous planning, asserting that “planning is a scientific function.” She underscored how the census serves as a critical tool for accurate budgeting and resource allocation, providing authorities with essential data to make informed decisions.
Moreover, Speaker Among issued a rallying call to all Ugandans to wholeheartedly embrace the census, recognizing its significance in shaping the nation’s future. She urged UBOS officials to expedite the enumeration process while ensuring comprehensive coverage to guarantee accuracy.
As Uganda gears up for the census, Speaker Among’s remarks serve as a poignant reminder of the vital role that each citizen plays in contributing to the success of this nationwide endeavor. With unity and cooperation, Uganda stands poised to harness the power of data for progress and development.
The enumeration of Speaker Among and her husband not only signifies their participation in this historic undertaking but also symbolizes a collective commitment to building a brighter future for all Ugandans.
