Tororo: Three Education Officers Arrested For Stealing UGX52M From Gov’t

The State House Anti Corruption Unit has arraigned three suspects before the Chief Magistrates Court, Tororo on charges of theft and conspiracy to defraud the government.

The trio are;

1.Mrs Ajuma Teddy Makola – Municipal Education Officer,

2. Ms. Nanjala Eunice Joy – Head Teacher / Morukatipe View Primary School,

3. Mr. Omuye Andrew – Councillor.

According to the Unit, these and others still at large conspired and stole UGX52M meant for the relocation and construction of Morukatipe View Primary School to a new site. They have been remanded till 7th August 2024.

The State House Anti Corruption Unit (SH-ACU) was established under Article 99(4) of the constitution of Uganda, which gives the President executive powers to either directly or indirectly perform his duties or through officers subordinate to him.

Launched on 10th December 2018, SH-ACU coordinates with all constitutionally mandated agencies to ensure a corruption-free country.

The Unit also acts as a link between H.E. the President, citizens, and anti-corruption agencies in relation to Anti-Corruption issues.
