By Our Reporter

Mbarara district leaders including the Chairman LCV Hon Didas Tabaro must be in panicky mode as their rot continues to be exposed by the concerned citizens, who have no sweet words for selfish public servants.

In the latest development, a one Mugume Bernard has petitioned the Inspector General of Government (IGG) and the State House Anti-Corruption Unit to dive into matters of corruption that have eaten up Mbarara district.

In his petition, he calls upon the above bodies to investigate the overturn of a grader being driven by an unskilled operator, a one Robert hired from Kiruhura District. He claims that for this driver to get the job, he bribed Eng. William Bananuka after sacking Ben Mwesigwa who was operating it refused to cough some bribes.

”Ben has an experience of over 20 years but was fired because he didn’t cough to Chairman LC5 and Eng. William. We need a lifestyle Audit of Chairman LC5 about the business he acquired during this term of office like bars i.e. La-home Bar in Ntinda Kampala, Deluxe-Kiyanja Mbarara town and Yaga Kakoba Roundabout,” reads the petition.

”Also, we want to know how Eng. William acquired the properties when he was working at Way Bridge Mbarara. He swindled funds and he was fired. Among the areas which require investigations, include how he used over 1billion on roads, land grabbing, administration and finance planning departments where corruption is so high,” adds the petition.

”I therefore request the government agency to intervene. As a concerned Ugandan and a leader who was elected to serve the people of Mbarara and this nation, I am disappointed to see such a disservice happening within my district. I, therefore, need your intervention in this matter, attached are the exaggeration of the work plans of Rubindi Kashare Road’s incomplete project and Rutooma Kashare Road,” adds Mugume in his petition.

He adds that Eng. William & Chairman LCV used their powers to excavate someone’s land who took the district to court and he was compensated Ugx3m, a misuse of government funds and the road was not completed.

The petition goes ahead to expose the district leaders stating that Chairman LC5 appointed C/Man PAC not following the procedures of the Local Government Act.

”Also, extortion among civil servants is very high especially when they are being transferred. They fear being harassed by Chairman LC5. A case in point is one of Nicholas Habwomugisha, the fisheries officer who had issues with Chairman LCV and went to Isingiro district, Tushabe Rugara Fred was transferred from administration as PAS to senior township officer without official minute,” the petition adds;

”In the Education department, Gabriel Ahimbisibwe retired in April, the one who was supposed to take over as education officer Mr Murangira Kenneth the principal education officer was switched with another officer who is senior to him. Keneth was selected by DEO to act as an education officer. He wanted to use Kenneth when transferring those who couldn’t cough and to swindle some fuel from that department,”

”Another one is Mugumya Nelson who is a Principal township officer and is now working as a sub-county chief of Bukiro Sub-county at a level of scale U4 while he is U2 and Beinomugisha Asaph who is U4 is acting in the position of township officer while Mugumya Nelson is supposed to be there because Nelson failed to cough. If need another information contact me like on Rutooma Matooke market tenderer. I therefore need your intervention on this matter,” the petition reads.
