The furious bazzukulu from the northern region have threatened to withdraw their support for HE Yoweri Kaguta Museveni if his Office of the National Chairman (ONC) doesn’t swing into action to empower them.
The group of thousands of youths petitioned ONC through their local investor Mr. Nyeko Johnson Koret saying for long they have been waiting for ONC manager Hajjat Hadijah Namyalo to announce when she will be taking her empowerment initiative to the North but they have now started losing hope.
”We want to know the secret behind Hajjat Namyalo’s delay in coming to our region to empower our poor people. Namyalo is doing a wonderful job and we have seen the impact of her empowerment in very many districts where she has been. Museveni’s 2026 support is sinking if we don’t get empowered,” fumed one Muzzukulu who appealed to Mr Nyeko to convince ONC to empower them.
Mr. Nyeko is a seasoned engineer and politician. He is also a former Lamwo County MP contestant.
In her initiative, Namyalo has so far empowered thousands of Museveni’s bazzukulu in dozens of districts across the country. During her empowerment, Namyalo hands over income-generating tools like spray machines, welding machines, hoes, salon equipment, gnut crushing machines, herbicides, sewing machines, hair dryers, chapatti-making machines, cooking oil, chips flying machines, seeds etc.
Mr Nyeko says people of the North are hardworking and if supported with the above tools they can be able to kick poverty out of their region.
”In the North, we have farmers, welders and our boys are good in chapati making…I mean we are so skilled in various ways and if Museveni’s ONC office supports us we can surely have a better region economically,” added Mr Nyeko on behalf of Northern Uganda people.
Northern Uganda is not the only region yearning for ONC’s empowerment, several cries have been heard from the East and the South as well, all seeking for support to tap into the money economy.
