President of Lwengo-based anti-corruption agency, Volunteer Uganda Extra – Mr Tushabe Bruce Nzabanita aka Nsolonkambwe has commended HE Yoweri Kaguta Museveni for using an irony hand against several MPs for allegedly involving in corruption.
Tushabe says the country for long has been developing at a slow pace and this is because of enemies of progress like corrupt government officials.
”We at Volunteer Uganda are so happy and we are keenly following up this corruption scandal. We can’t thank enough, President Museveni for finally waking up to clean his dirty house. However, we request him to not stop on these MPs but also arrest more because we are sure that parliament is full of rot,” said Bruce.
He goes ahead to request the president to make sure that whoever is arrested is arraigned before court, charged and convicted.
”Also, it’s our humble appeal to the President, let these people be sent to jail but also cough what they stolen. We don’t want to see this scandal mismanaged like that of mabaati. We want these people to be an example to those stealing public resources,” Bruce added.
He however condemns the recent re-arrest of Busiki County MP Hon Paul Akamba saying it was a violation of human rights since he had secured a bail.
”If someone is granted bail, it means he has been released in conformity with the law, so where do you base on to jump over him and take him as a chicken thief, that was so unfortunate and we can’t tolerate that we as human rights defenders,” Bruce says they would have summoned him through the speaker in case they needed to arrest him again.
Still on matters of corruption, Bruce wants the President to intervene in shoddy works seen on Lwengo Town Council road which was supposed to receive a budget of Ugx12b but received only Ugx4b and the balance ended in the pockets of some corrupt officials.
”The road is now hanging in balance, and the contractor did shoddy works, putting our people at great risk of accidents. Potholes and dust are the key things seen on this road but remember government spent billions of taxpayers’ money on it. Therefore, we want the President to send Anti Corruption Unit to come and investigate these matters and arrest these mafias that ate money for this road,” Bruce adds;
”Also we request the President to send us a UPDF engineering brigade, at least those are not corrupt and we believe they will do good work for us because we trust UPDF.”
