Just In: Minister Nyamutoro Escapes Live Bullets In Kisoro

Police in Kabale District have arrested private security guards from National Cement Company, a subsidiary of the Devki Group, for attempting to shoot at State Minister for Energy and Mineral Development Hon. Phiona Nyamutoro.

The incident occurred while she was conducting a routine check on allegedly illegal mining activities in Kisoro District.

The incident occurred while Minister Nyamutoro had visited the National Cement Co site to sensitize the miniers on the importance of adhering to artisanal mining regulations aimed at promoting sustainable and legal mining practices.

This company is allegedly carrying out illegal mining activities in Kisoro District.

The situation was quickly averted and Minister Nyamutoro was escorted to safety by her security detail while the private security guards were disarmed.

No injuries were reported.
