By Frank Kamuntu

Thousands of NRM supporters on Friday gathered at Kololo independence grounds to celebrate and thank President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni for his leadership and spearheading the country for nearly 49 years.

Some of the members that attended the event are dignitaries from different countries, political leaders, religious leaders, members of the public and business persons, including Mbarara’s most celebrated tycoon Prosper Tuhaise Kururagire.

Tuhaise is the CEO of Africa’s famous betting company BungaBet and currently is seen as the next NRM chairman for Mbarara City come the 2026 elections.

The loyal muzzukulu of President Museveni didn’t come alone at Kololo, using his own resources, Kururagire injected in millions and hired vehicles that transported hundreds and hundreds of NRM supporters all the way from Mbarara to Kololo to have a thrilling interaction with their great leader Museveni.

In his remarks at the event, Kururagire said, ”am grateful that what i have been advocating for has happened. I have been telling Ugandans to be thankful for Museveni’s achievements as a leader. In fact, I had suggested that Ugandans reward him another term because this is the only way we to appreciate him.”

He said Museveni started ruling when he was still a youth and so it was a sacrifice that Ugandans should be appreciative of.

”He found us in secretarism, in political wars with too much dictatorship but he has since changed the trend. So i have put money in these people to come and enjoy this day with their president. All these people know i have not been paid by anyone, am doing all these because of the love i and my people have for Museveni,” said Kururagire.

“Achievements Museveni has achieved for us are immense, he will be remembered by our grand grand children. Meanwhile I also want to thanked NRM mobilization boss Ms Rosemary Sseninde for organizing the event. But we request this should be done every year as an appreciation for our President for the sacrifice and wise leadership,” added Prosper.

Some of the leaders that were facilitated to come and witness the thanksgiving ceremony for Museveni praised big-hearted Prosper for such an opportunity he accorded to them, saying it was a big opportunity for them to have a day with their President.

”It’s good to appreciate people who are still alive, especially those that have contribute highly to our nation’s prosperity. We all agree that Museveni is a key factor of what the country is today, so we thank our Chairman to be Hon Prosper for facilitating us and we shall stand behind him because he is such a unique breed and a very impactful leader,” said Moses Kabiriho Zasyora one of the leaders in Mbarara who attended Museveni’s thanksgiving event.
