Aspiring woman Member of Parliament for Namisindwa district Dr Sarah Khanakwa Bwayo has tipped the youths to embrace sports for better health and improve their living standards economically.
Dr Khanakwa also informed the youths that participation in sports is associated with lower rates of anxiety and depression, reduced stress, higher self-esteem, and decreased risk of suicide but also fosters social connections and emotional well-being.
”Use your time and talents in sports development. It’s an economic activity that can offer a decent salary while also creating bonds and networks with people at the international level,” Dr Khanakwa tipped a mammoth of the youths who gathered for a football match between Lwakhakha United and Kaboyi FC on Sunday evening.
Further, Dr Khanakwa ‘preached’ that sports is a unifying factor as it brings people together irrespective of race or political affiliation but also fosters community cohesion and mutual respect among diverse groups.
These come at a time when Dr Khanakwa continues to meet several groups of the wanainchi in Namisindwa to find out the challenges affecting their well-being but also to build a strong ground that will help her solve their issues come the 2026 electoral victory.
Yesterday, Khanakwa’s team met boda bodas and taxi drivers, who vowed to support her and mobilize for her success. Earlier this month, Khanakwa also met several women groups, especially expectant mothers, and equipped them with mama kits, basins and other tools to safeguard their health and newborns.
Also, Khanakwa is still running mega health camps in various sub-counties and town councils of Namisindwa where thousands have so far benefited. Electorates interacting with Khanakwa in these health camps assured her that she would win the 2026 elections but asked her to lobby for better roads, and electricity to cover the entire district, better the learning environment for all Namisindwa children and create projects that can help them to fight poverty, issues she promises to iron out immediately she enters parliament.
