”You’re Our Own, We Must Support You”-Namisindwa Leaders Back Dr. Khanakwa’s Candidature For Woman MP Seat

Residents and local leaders in Namisindwa District have backed Dr. Khanakwa Sarah’s candidature for the district Woman member of parliament in the 2026 elections.

The resolution was reached last week on Thursday during a zonal leaders’ meeting for greater Buwabwala, which was graced by the hopeful Woman Member of Parliament herself Dr. Khanakwa Sarah (PhD) at Tsekululu sub county headquarters.

The meeting attracted leaders from the 13 sub-counties that constitute the greater Buwabwala zone in Namisindwa District.

In the resolution presented by Buwabwala sub-county Chairman Makumba Khameme Vincent, the leaders backed the idea of Dr. Khanakwa Sarah to contest in the 2026 election as their district woman member of parliament for Namisindwa.

The about 800 residents who attended the consultative meeting pledged to mobilize and support Khanakwa’s win in the 2026 parliamentary election.

“We particularly and without hesitation endorse Dr. Khanakwa Sarah aka Sibya Sipoto as our own candidate for the district woman member of parliament in 2026,” Mr. Khameme said while presenting the resolution.

According to some leaders and residents, Khanakwa’s support is based on community-based services she has over time offered to the people of Namisindwa among them including, the free integrated medical camps, and the mama kits for pregnant mothers.

Several other social services, like the provision of sanitary pads to girls and also providing scholastic materials to school-going children, especially the needy ones, are some of the reasons attracting the majority to support her candidature.

Dr. Khanakwa, who was in attendance at the meeting, pledged never to disappoint the people of Namisindwa once entrusted with that leadership position, a position she hopes to use as a platform to lobby more development for Namisindwa.
