Interest More Women To Join Industry: Air Serv Entebbe Hosts This Year’s Girls In Aviation Day

By Frank Kamuntu

Since the very first Women in Aviation International (WIA) Girls in Aviation Day in 2015, the annual event has registered a huge growth. Its first gathering of 32 events attracted over 3,200 participants.

This year’s event was hosted in Uganda at Entebbe-based Air Serv, an aviation company with leading experts in international aviation, in collaboration with African Leaders in Aviation.

The event held on 11th September featured a couple of activities and attracted students from various institutions and women from national and international aviation companies.

The event intended to interest girls aged 12 to 18yrs old students to pursue careers related to aviation.

This was highly supported by the Civil Aviation Authority (CCA), Air Serv, Women in Aviation and African Leaders in Aviation.

About Air Serv

Initially created in 1997 as a subsidiary of humanitarian nonprofit organization Air Serv International, Air Serv Limited began as a small operations and maintenance base for flight programs in Africa. As the need for reputable and reliable aviation services in East Africa increased, they recognized a niche which needed to be filled. Expanding their training program and facilities, they widened the range of services they had to offer to create a comprehensive and highly specialized product for businesses and organizations operating in difficult environments. With a focus on safety, they provide their staff with the highest quality of training and meet the strictest levels of operating standards to serve their clients and partners.

About African Leaders in Aviation

African Leaders in Aviation (ALA) aims to encourage the advancement of aviation, especially amongst women in all aviation career fields and interests. As well as to influence, raise and strengthen African Aviation Leaders.

ALA helps you navigate your way through aviation. They help you understand aviation better, share with you possible opportunities – be it studying or work-related – and connect you with the aviation community.
