Breaking! Brig Gen (rtd) Kyambadde & Brig Gen Fred Twinamasiko Perish In Masaka Accident

By Frank Kamuntu

The Uganda People’s Defense Forces (UPDF) and the Ministry of Defense are once again in mourning, only days after saying goodbye to one of their prominent ministers. This time, the tragedy involves the loss of two senior generals who died in a severe accident on Masaka road.

Col. Deo Akiiki, the Deputy Spokesman for the Ministry of Defense, has identified the deceased as Brigadier General (retired) Kyambadde and Brigadier General Fred Twinamasiko, the Director of Training and Doctrine for Land Forces.

In a statement posted on X, Akiiki expressed deep sorrow and disbelief, noting, “It’s hard to accept this new loss so soon after the death of Minister of State for Defense, Hon. Sarah Mateke. Brig Gen (rtd) Kyambadde and Brig Gen Fred Twinamasiko have both been lost in this tragic accident. It’s incredibly difficult to come to terms with.”

He offered his condolences and support to the bereaved families, stating, “May the Lord give strength to their families during this challenging time. MHSRP.”

The specifics of the accident are still unknown, but further updates will be provided as they become available.

Additionally, it should be remembered that just last Saturday, the Ministry of Defense was already in mourning due to the passing of Hon. Sarah Mateke Nyirabashitsi, the Minister of State for Veteran Affairs and Kisoro Woman MP, who died following a short illness.
