As the political scene in the country starts to unfold, various people have started to express their readiness to contest for various seats.
In Sembabule Mawogola West Constituency, residents have started to enjoy the political environment in their area, after Businessman and NRM staunch supporter Wilberforce Begumisa came out strongly to contest for the Member of Parliament seat.
The post is now held by Minister Hanifa Kawooya Bangirana of NRM.
BEGUMISA NARRATES HIS BACKGROUND
“I am 55 years of age, legally married to Hon. Mary Begumisa with 4 Children.
My parents were the late George and Margret Begumisa all of Lwebitakuli Village, Lwebitakuli Parish and Lwebitakuli Sub County in Mawogola west Sembabule District.
I attended St Joseph Primary school Lwebitakuli for Primary Leaving examination, St. Charles Lwebitakuli SS for Ordinally level certificate, Mbarara High school for Senior six, Uganda College of Commerce UCC Kabale and I did accounts.
I Joined the Law Development Centre Kampala and obtained a diploma in Law then Makerere University for Bachelors in Social Sciences.
I first worked as a Subcounty chief in Rakai District and then Assistant Chief Administrative officer in Charge of Kakuuto County in Rakai District. I and my spouse Mary started a Tourism business – Africa Adventures Safaris Ltd based in Kampala and San Diego in the United States of America.
We are also the owner of Gorilla Trek Africa based in Kampala and Kigali.”
Begumisa has supported the underprivileged in his area to acquire formal education and career guidance services to students. He has also created Jobs for the Mawogola County Youths in the Tourism industry.
His support to small businesses in Sembabule through mentoring a number of Youth and women can not be overlooked.
Mr & Mrs Begumisa have supported computer literacy in schools by offering various computers to schools such as St Charles SS Lwebitakuli where he studied from, Mateete Seed School, Macos, etc.
Why Begumisa At This Time?
He was born, raised, and educated in Lwebitakuli Mawogola west. He appreciates the little Hon Anifa has contributed to Sembabule in the last 40 years. However Mawogola West deserves more than meets the eye.
The unemployed youths require programs that would bring money to their pockets. People with business acumen are very important in this era. Mr Begumisa is already coming up several projects to address these concerns.
He will soon unveil his manifesto.
He says that the roles of a member of parliament ie, constituency representation, oversight, Legislation and Budgeting will be his major focus.
As an NRM diehard he will be guided by the Party core Principals of Social Economic Transformation, Democracy, Pan Africanism and Democracy.
