Following the launch of the vote protection exercise at the Office of the National Chairman (ONC) Kyambogo this week, Chief Muzzukulu Hajjat Hadijah Namyalo flagged off the coordinators to go and identify vote protectors in their districts across the country.
Without hesitation, these coordinators have kicked off this exercise to ensure a transparent and fraud-free 2026 elections.
In Mukono, the District Coordinator Mr.Davis Lukyamuzi and Bazzukulu Coordinator Mr.Gashegu Muramira paid a visit to Hajji Twaili Sebagala, the district NRM Chairman at the District NRM offices to present to him a letter from the Chief Muzzukulu on the conduct of this exercise, as well forge ways of working together for the smoothness of the exercise.
Also, the Coordinators held a brief preparatory meeting with him to strategize on how to fully execute the exercise as per the ONC guidelines.
In this meeting, Hajji Sebagala thanked the NRM leadership for involving the NRM structures in the vote protection exercise, unlike in the past when the structures were bypassed and as a result of this, pledged full support to the ONC team until the exercise is fully executed.
Inside Museveni’s Votes ProtectionÂ
The launch of this exercise came few days after President Museveni-NRM chairman said the National Unity Platform (NUP), opposition party rigged the 2021 general elections by one million votes.
Speaking during a thanksgiving service for the late General Aronda Nyakairima, Mr Museveni said he has concrete evidence to support his claim and challenged NUP to confront him if they believe he is making false accusations.
The President explained that the alleged vote rigging was facilitated by electoral agents at polling stations who failed to properly oversee the election process.
He acknowledged that election cheating is a widespread issue in Uganda’s political landscape, with some politicians embracing fraudulent tactics to gain power and this clearly explains why he fronted his unbwogable lady Hajjat Namyalo to introduce a vote protection initiative.
