A police officer has allegedly killed his ex-lover and a colleague in Kampala, Uganda.
Kampala Metropolitan deputy police spokesperson Luke Owoyesigyire confirmed the incident and identified the suspect as Constable Alex Adei.
The cop, who has since been arrested, is said to have been working at the City Tactical Counter-terrorism unit.
Moreover, the spokesperson said the incident happened at about 9pm on Sunday, September 28, adding that constable Adei is detained at Jinja Road Police Station.
In a report by Monitor, Owoyesigyire said that upon reaching the crime scene, they thought only one person had been killed.
“We have arrested the suspect; he has been on the run with the gun. He is now detained at Jinja Road Police Station, waiting to face justice,” Owoyesigyire said.

However, detectives later discovered another officer who resided in the barracks was also dead near where the female cop was shot.
According to the police spokesperson, the gunshot may have also hit the deceased officer, who was asleep.
“It appears the gunshot also struck the neighbouring officer, who was sleeping. We are currently working to confirm the victims’ identities,” he said.
The constable’s motive for shooting his ex-partner is alleged to be jealousy, as the woman had moved on following their separation.
According to the Monitor, sources close to the investigation revealed that the suspect has a history of misusing his firearm.
This prompted concerns among his colleagues about his continued deployment with a loaded gun.
However, the police spokesperson stated that investigations are underway to determine the truth behind the allegations.
“We are conducting a thorough investigation to verify the allegations and determine whether they are substantiated.
“If so, we will examine why he was issued a firearm and whether his supervisor knew his intentions before authorising the gun’s assignment,” he stated.
In a separate report by TUKO.co.ke, retired police officer Joel Kiptanui shot and killed his wife.
Kiptanui, a licensed firearm holder, reportedly used his Ceska pistol to fatally shoot his wife, Sarah Chepkemoi, in the head and hand.
He then tried to harm himself after realizing what he had done, sustaining a chest injury that ultimately led to his death while receiving treatment.
