The Uganda People’s Defence Force (UPDF) has intensified its efforts following a brutal attack in Muzizi Village, Kyaterekera Sub-County, Kagadi District, where seven people were tragically killed.

Initial investigations suggest that the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF), a notorious militant group, may be responsible.

Major Billal Katamba, spokesperson for the Mountain Division and Operation Shuja, confirmed the attack took place around 8:30pm.

“The ADF allegedly launched an assault on the village, targeting victims with sharp weapons,” Katamba stated.

“The incident has led to multiple fatalities and serious injuries among the residents, with reports indicating familial connections to the assailants.”

Witnesses described scenes of terror as the attackers targeted specific families, sparking confusion and fear across the community.

While the motive remains unclear, the attack’s intensity has shaken local residents. The UPDF, working alongside police and the Internal Security Organisation (ISO), has launched a full-scale manhunt to track down those responsible.

“We are fully committed to bringing those responsible to justice,” Maj. Katamba affirmed. “Our forces are actively pursuing leads and are on the ground to ensure peace and stability are restored.”

Local authorities are urging residents to stay vigilant and report suspicious activity, especially given the suspected ADF presence in the area.

The UPDF has also called for community cooperation as they work to combat extremism and prevent further attacks.

Community leaders and local government officials are working closely with security agencies to address concerns about the ADF’s influence.

Residents have been advised to stay alert, support one another, and trust that the UPDF and authorities are committed to maintaining safety during these challenging times.
