Minister Akello Directs State House Anti-Corruption Unit To Investigate Sironko District Engineering Department

The state minister for economic monitoring Hon. Beatrice Akello, has directed state house anti-corruption unit to investigate the district engineering department of Sironko after the team while inspecting the roads found out that 6 roads supposed to have been constructed in the last final year 2023 to 2024 have never been worked on yet government released the funds for the 1 billion meant and 50% of the money for last financial year has not been used

The minister revealed that all the roads in the terrible state have been abandoned, and this is the second quarter of this year

She refuted the allegations by the district engineer that they have been receiving heavy rains for over a year that have hampered the construction of works

The minister also visited the micro irrigation scheme in Mutufu town council which is is not yet complete, she also inspected the Buhugu milk cooler that has not been operating for long blaming those who designed the project that they did not consult and the community is now demanding for maize mile because have no cows to sustain supply the milk cooler

The minister later visited the Buweri administrative house that has stalled at the foundation level for over 3 years at the cost of 17 million

She also directed the state aunt corruption agency to investigate all the projects that are incomplete

She revealed that they have gotten information that the Wendi agents are conveying with the SACO leaders to solicit bribes from beneficiaries of PDM and Emyooga that they should be brought to book.

Andrew Wasukira, district engineer, explained that he has delayed working on the roads due to the heavy rains that have been in the district for over 1 year

Dennis Ephraim Balwanireghe RDC Sironko blamed the civil servants for the shoddy in the district arguing that government sends a lot of money in the district but of the projects especially roads are impassable which he blamed on the district engineering department

Herbert Musika councilor Nalusla sub county revealed that most of the roads are in the sorry state and even most of the projects that government has put it money has been put to waste and most of the civil servants have no will to work

The minister is in the region investigating government projects.
