Chil Group, a leader in health and hygiene innovation, is proud to announce an exciting new partnership with Reckitt, the global company behind trusted household names such as Dettol, Harpic, JIK, and more. This collaboration, which first began in 2023 through Reckitt’s WINFUND program, marks a significant milestone in the fight for better health and hygiene across Africa. Through this partnership, Chil Group and Reckitt are united by a shared vision: to improve the health and hygiene of schoolchildren throughout Sub-Saharan Africa, starting with Uganda.

The roots of this partnership date back to 2023, when Reckitt, through its WINFUND program co-founded with Health Innovation Exchange, made a key investment in Chil Group’s telemedicine initiative. This early support gave a tremendous boost to Chil Group’s mission, and now the collaboration has evolved into an even stronger commitment to improving hygiene education and practices in schools.

Dr. Shamim Nabuuma, the Founder of Chil Group, expressed her excitement about the next phase of the partnership, stating: “Reckitt has been a game-changer for us. Their support in 2023 gave a big boost to our telemedicine projects. Now, this renewed commitment with the Dettol Hygiene Quest Program allows us to tackle a key challenge related to hygiene education for school-aged children. Together, we will educate, empower, and inspire school children, instilling healthy hygiene habits.”

At the heart of this new collaboration is the Dettol Hygiene Quest Program, a pioneering initiative designed to revolutionize hygiene in schools across Africa and Uganda. Phase One of this ambitious program will begin by reaching 1,500 schools in Uganda, with plans to expand to more countries in Sub-Saharan Africa. The program’s dual approach includes not only improving hygiene facilities but also offering impactful education aimed at empowering children, teachers, and families with essential knowledge about hygiene practices.

Through the Dettol Hygiene Quest Program, both Chil Group and Reckitt aim to provide children aged 5 to 8, as well as their teachers and families, with practical and sustainable hygiene education. The program will teach children the importance of handwashing, cleanliness, and maintaining healthy habits in everyday life. This initiative has the potential to create lasting, positive change within school communities, setting the stage for broader efforts across the region.

One of the key goals of this partnership is to ensure long-lasting improvements in hygiene practices within school communities. By educating children and their families, the program hopes to foster a culture of hygiene that extends beyond the classroom. As the program expands across Uganda and other parts of Sub-Saharan Africa, it will help create a healthier and more sustainable environment for future generations.

This partnership also represents a strategic blend of Chil Group’s innovative approach to health and hygiene with Reckitt’s extensive expertise in global hygiene education. Reckitt, known for its trusted hygiene products like Dettol, is well-positioned to support and drive the program’s success. Through their combined efforts, both organizations aim to make a real and lasting difference in the lives of children and communities across the region.

In this partnership, both organizations continue to work toward a common goal, they remain committed to making hygiene education a cornerstone of public health efforts in Uganda and beyond.
