By Frank Kamuntu

Victoria University, Kampala (VU) is at the forefront of redefining education by making learning accessible to students worldwide through its robust digital and long-distance learning platforms. This transformative approach was introduced by the forward-thinking Vice Chancellor, Prof. Lawrence Muganga who is currently in Canada for a global technology conference dubbed ‘AI in Education Forum’.

On the sidelines of this conference, Prof Muganga was engulfed by some VU students residing and working in Canada who briefed him on the power and beauty of long-distance learning.

”When we heard that you are in Canada, we felt like we couldn’t miss such an opportunity to meet you and thank you physically for introducing a ‘digital class’ called VCLASS, we have been able to enjoy all our lectures here in Canada and regularly interact with our lectures in Uganda virtually without any interruption,” said one of the students adding;

”The fact is we have very many Universities here in Canada but truly we can’t compare our VU with any University here, so to our fellow students in Uganda and other parts of the world, we want to assure you that VU is among the top best Universities globally and that’s why we chose it over the rest.”

The meeting thrilled Prof Muganga who took it to his socials and inked; ”Meeting some of our amazing Victoria University 𝐬𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 𝐰𝐡𝐨 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐥𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐢𝐧 𝐂𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐝𝐚 has been an emotional and exciting experience for me. Thank you, Mavis and Patrick, for showing up when you heard your VC was in Canada.”

Prof. Muganga’s meeting with VU students in Canada exemplifies the university’s commitment to nurturing strong relationships with its diverse student body. He emphasized the role of technology as an enabler, stating, “Students can now study from anywhere in the world. Technology is truly an enabler, and we will continue to leverage it to make Victoria University a global classroom and a university for the world.”
