The youth in Uganda stand at a crossroads, holding the power to shape the future of the country through their vote. The Office of the National Chairman (ONC) for the National Resistance Movement (NRM) has embarked on an ambitious mission to engage the youth in political discourse, emphasizing their critical role in determining Uganda’s leadership. At a recent NRM Ntunda Sub County forum in Mukono district, the ONC Mukono District Coordinator passionately encouraged leaders to reach out to young people without hesitation, ensuring their voices are heard and their concerns addressed.
Hajjat Namyalo, the Senior Presidential Advisor and Personal Assistant to President Museveni, has been a pivotal figure in bridging the gap between the youth and the President. Through her efforts, ONC has actively engaged in reaching even the most remote areas, connecting with young people who had previously been overlooked. The youth’s response to this initiative has been overwhelmingly positive, demonstrating a willingness to align with NRM’s vision when they feel included and empowered.
The Ntunda Sub County forum, organized by Mr. Nyombi Muhammad, the local NRM chairman, highlighted the stark contrast between NRM’s achievements in the past and the challenges currently faced under opposition leadership. Ntunda, once a model area for agricultural development under NRM, is now grappling with deteriorating infrastructure, a lack of school teachers, and poor service delivery. These challenges serve as a rallying point for the youth to reflect on the past and vote wisely in the 2026 elections.
The ONC coordinator further emphasized the importance of youth representation within the party structures. By encouraging young people to contest for leadership positions, the NRM ensures that their development programs resonate with the aspirations of the younger generation. This inclusive approach not only strengthens the party but also provides a platform for the youth to actively participate in decision-making and contribute to the nation’s progress.
As Uganda approaches another critical election cycle, the ONC’s strategy to engage the youth underscores the enduring relevance of President Museveni’s leadership. By focusing on inclusivity, historical achievements, and addressing current challenges, the NRM aims to rekindle hope and trust among young voters.
It is evident that the youth can still vote for Museveni, driven by a shared commitment to rebuilding what has been lost and pushing forward Uganda’s development agenda.
