Phiona Nyamutoro, the State Minister for Minerals, recently shared the heartfelt and unexpected story of how her relationship with musician Eddy Kenzo began, revealing how a bold declaration on their very first meeting set the tone for their connection. Speaking at the #RiotYouth2024 conference at Pastor Kayanja’s church, Phiona recalled that when she met Kenzo, he confidently told her he wanted to marry her.
“I wasn’t a minister or an MP at that time,” Phiona explained, reflecting on the surprising and bold nature of Kenzo’s proposal. “He barely knew me, yet he told me he had never proposed to any woman before.” Phiona was taken aback by his boldness but added that, in hindsight, she now sees their relationship as part of a greater plan.
Though initially unaware of Kenzo’s celebrity status, Phiona admitted that she felt a deep connection with him. “I just met a regular guy named Eddy, and we became friends. As time passed, things naturally evolved, and now we are where we are,” she shared.
Phiona also expressed her belief that their paths crossed for a reason, acknowledging the uniqueness of their relationship, which brought together two people from very different backgrounds. “It’s unusual for someone in my position to end up with someone in his line of work, but Eddy is not your average person,” she said.
She further emphasized the divine aspect of their union, recalling how her pastors recognized the special grace in Kenzo’s life, telling her that his qualities were undeniable. “They saw something in Eddy that made it clear this was no ordinary relationship,” she said.
Phiona and Eddy Kenzo are now engaged and share a son, continuing to build a future together as a couple.
