Kaliro District Saturday experienced a remarkable milestone as Hajjat Hadijah Namyalo, Manager of the Office of the National Chairman (ONC), delivered an extensive empowerment package aimed at transforming the livelihoods of the Bazzukulu.
The initiative, designed to tackle poverty and boost income-generating activities among the Bazzukulu, included a variety of tools and equipment such as hair dryers, automobile toolboxes, sewing machines, hand hoes, chapati and chips-making machines, and popcorn machines, among others.
Speaking to the Bazzukulu at Gadumire Grounds in Bulamogi, Hajjat Namyalo emphasized that the empowerment program which started 2023 aligns with the government’s broader commitment to community empowerment and sustainable development. She commended Hon. Brenda Namukuta, the Kaliro District Woman MP, for her instrumental role in lobbying the items for the electorate and her resilience in ensuring its success on the ground.
“Your Honorable woman MP has done a really great job for you people. She reached out to me and asked that we bring wealth creation items to you as a sample ahead of the Presidential visit which is due next week,” Hajjat stated.
She added despite lobbying a few items for now, on her return, she will bring more equipment but advised the wanainchi to actively get involved in the wealth creation initiatives put forward by President Museveni’s visit.
Hon. Namukuta, in her remarks, expressed gratitude to the ONC and President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni for prioritizing youth empowerment. She urged the recipients to use the tools effectively to improve their lives and contribute to the district’s economic growth.
Residents praised the program, describing it as a timely intervention to address unemployment and improve household incomes. Beneficiaries pledged to utilize the tools to enhance their standards of living.
Earlier, the district leaders led by LC5 Chairperson Elijah Kagoda Dhikusoka and RDC Aggrey Frederick Bangu tabled before the ONC Boss issues affecting the district among which was the lack of a district hospital, poor roads and seeds schools on the sub county.
In response, Hajjat pledged to raise the issues to her appointing authority (Jajja) annd that on his visit to the Busoga region next week, they ought to re-echo them to him for a solution to be crafted.
This empowerment program forms part of ONC’s ongoing efforts to uplift communities across Uganda through impactful and practical interventions, further solidifying grassroots support for the National Resistance Movement (NRM).
The function climaxed with thrilling performances on stage by rapper Gravity Omutujju sending the mammoth of the crowd into wild turns and dances.
