Opinion By Kazibwe Jamil
Rebuilding confidence and trust in the NRM internal electoral processes begins with reconstituting the Party Electoral Commission.
The current one is not only out of its depth, but Irredeemablly incompetent.
It’s simply not equal to the task, it’s a joke!
The experiment of having a quarrelsome, master of divisive rhetoric at helm of the party EC has simply not worked.
Ask him to present a strategic plan now, he has nothing. Yet he has had four years to prepare!
Focus must now shift to the identification of individual cadres who are deeply knowledgeable/ experts in election management.
Time is of the essence!
The challenge is that the Tangas have already messed up the membership register from which the party voters roll is supposed to be extracted.
Any new commission will have to grapple with & figure out how to navigate these murky waters and deliver credible primaries.
Currently, Tanga’s preoccupation is with fighting Todwong and the Secretariat treasury over resources instead of focusing on readying the commission for the tasks ahead.
This should really worry anyone intending to seek the party flag.
God save the NRM.
