Big Story: Here’s What Exactly Killed Brigadier-General Charles Oluka-Director General Of ISO

The Ugandan security community is in mourning following the death of Brigadier-General Charles Oluka, the Director General of the Internal Security Organisation (ISO). Gen. Oluka.

Oluka who had been at the helm of ISO since October 2020, succumbed to heart complications, according to sources close to the matter.

The news of his passing was confirmed by military officials, including Deputy Defence Spokesperson Col. Deo Akiiki, and Deputy Presidential Press Secretary Faruk Kirunda. Oluka passed away at Doctor’s Hospital Sseguku, located along Entebbe Road, where he had been rushed the previous evening.

Before his untimely death, Brigadier-General Oluka had been battling heart issues for some time. In fact, sources indicate that the spymaster had traveled abroad last year for a medical review, accompanied by his wife and personal doctor. Despite his health challenges, Oluka continued to fulfill his duties as head of Uganda’s premier security agency.

Tragedy struck on Wednesday evening after what appeared to be a normal workday. After a full day of office duties, Gen. Oluka went home for prayers, a routine he had adhered to. Sadly, he collapsed shortly thereafter, leading to his rushed hospitalization and eventual passing.

Gen. Oluka’s leadership at ISO was marked by his efforts to strengthen the country’s internal security apparatus and combatting security threats. His death leaves a significant void in Uganda’s intelligence community, and his contributions will undoubtedly be remembered.

As the nation processes this loss, tributes have poured in from colleagues and officials, acknowledging the late General’s dedication to his work and his country. His passing is a great loss to Uganda, and his legacy will live on within the Internal Security Organisation and beyond.
