A family has been thrown into mourning following the unfortunate and untimely demise of a young lady in Kisii county.
Celine Nyangweso passed away on Friday night, January 31, after falling into a collapsing pit latrine.
According to reports, the 24-year-old was answering nature’s call when the incident happened, leaving her neighbours heartbroken.
Victor Odongo, Nyangweso’s neighbour recounted the young lady’s last moments before the tragic incident.
“The case occurred around 9 pm when this young lady had descended to help herself. She removed her shoe to enter the pit toilet. When she entered, she was with her husband. The latrine collapsed, and they entered inside.
When they entered, the husband jumped to save her but he could not because the slab had covered the young lady and the latrine was full of water.”
