16yr Old Student Hangs Self At Seeta High School, Dead!

By Our Reporter

Mukono police have launched an investigation into the shocking death of a Senior Three student at Seeta High School, whose lifeless body was found hanging in the school dormitory in the early hours of the morning.

The deceased, identified as 16-year-old Elishammah Ssesazi, was discovered by his dormitory mates at around 3:00 AM. According to Kampala Metropolitan Deputy Police Spokesperson Luke Owoyesigyire, the school administration immediately alerted the police after the tragic discovery.

Authorities have yet to determine the exact cause of Ssesazi’s death, with a postmortem at Mulago City Mortuary expected to shed more light on the circumstances. While there has been speculation that the student may have taken his own life over a financial disagreement with his father, police have urged caution against premature conclusions.

Reports suggest that the teenager had allegedly requested UGX 2 million from his father, a Kampala businessman, but failed to provide a convincing reason for needing the money. His father reportedly refused to give in to the demand. However, investigators have not confirmed whether this played any role in his death.

“At this stage, the motive behind the suspected suicide remains unknown, and investigations are ongoing to gather more details surrounding the incident,” Owoyesigyire said, emphasizing that all possibilities are being explored.

The tragic death has reignited conversations about student mental health and the unseen struggles young people face. With growing academic pressures and personal challenges, experts have often called for increased mental health support in schools to help students cope with stress and emotional difficulties.

Seeta High School, where the incident occurred, is owned by Minister for Higher Education John Chrysostom Muyingo.

As police continue their investigations, authorities have urged students, parents, and the public to remain patient and allow due process to unfold. Further updates are expected as more details emerge from the ongoing inquiries.
