Ugandan General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, the son of President Yoweri Museveni and Chief of Defence Forces, has once again stirred online debate after claiming he was “kidnapped” by three women in Kenya.

Taking to his official X (formerly Twitter) account on Sunday, February 23, 2025, Muhoozi posted:

“The women-to-men ratio in Kenya must be extremely dangerous. I went to a restaurant last night and 3 beautiful women kidnapped me.”

While his statement appeared to be lighthearted, it quickly sparked mixed reactions from both Ugandans and Kenyans online. Some social media users found the comment amusing, while others questioned its meaning, especially considering Muhoozi’s history of making controversial remarks.

This was just one of several tweets the General posted on Sunday. On the same day, Muhoozi also made bold statements targeting Ugandan opposition leaders Bobi Wine and Dr. Kizza Besigye, as well as Besigye’s wife, Winnie Byanyima.

Although the exact details of these tweets remain unclear, they have added to ongoing tensions between the government and its critics.

In another controversial post, Muhoozi revealed that his office would soon audit all media houses in Uganda. He claimed this was under the direct orders of his father, President Museveni, who serves as the armed forces commander-in-chief.

Muhoozi’s tweet about being “kidnapped” left many questioning whether he was joking or making an indirect statement about something deeper. Some Kenyans responded humorously, while others criticized him for making light of a serious issue.
