Big Scandal: Mulago Doctor Remanded For Forging Medical Documents In Balondemu’s Multimillion Fraud Case

By Our Reporter

Dr. Ssegujja Hassan, a medical doctor from Mulago, has been arraigned before the Buganda Road Chief Magistrates Court on charges of forgery and conspiracy to commit a felony. The case, led by the State House Anti-Corruption Unit in collaboration with the Criminal Investigations Directorate and the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions, highlights a major development in an ongoing high-profile fraud investigation.

The prosecution alleges that Dr. Ssegujja Hassan assisted Balondemu David, the Chairperson of the Kampala City Land Board and a practicing lawyer, in fraudulently forging medical documents to support Balondemu’s bail application in an ongoing case. Balondemu is facing serious allegations of obtaining over UGX 2.2 billion by false pretenses and conspiracy to defraud an American company, KG Unlimited LLC.

Following his arraignment, Dr. Ssegujja has been remanded until March 17, 2025, pending further court proceedings. Authorities emphasize that the investigation is ongoing, and additional legal action may follow based on the gathered evidence.

The case underscores the Ugandan government’s commitment to combating graft and fraudulent activities, particularly in sensitive sectors like healthcare and land transactions. It also serves as a warning to professionals who may be tempted to engage in corrupt practices to aid individuals facing legal scrutiny.
