Dr Hamis Kiggundu, affectionately known as “Ham,” stands as a testament to entrepreneurial prowess in Uganda. Born in 1984 in Lukerere, Kalungu District, Ham embarked on a journey that would see him rise to prominence in the realms of business and literature.
Ham’s formative years were deeply influenced by his family’s entrepreneurial spirit. His father, Haruna Segawa, was a notable figure with substantial real estate investments in Kampala.
This environment nurtured Ham’s business acumen from a young age. He commenced his primary education in Masaka and later attended Kabojja International School in Kampala for his secondary studies.
Pursuing higher education, Ham earned a Bachelor of Laws degree from Makerere University, equipping him with a solid foundation for his future endeavors.
Ham’s entrepreneurial journey began during his college years in 2003. With initial capital provided by his parents, he ventured into trading commodities, sourcing goods from international markets such as China, Thailand, Hong Kong, and Dubai.
His keen business sense led him to transition into real estate, where he established Ham Enterprises (U) Ltd. Under his leadership, the company flourished, expanding into sectors like real estate development, agro-processing, and industrialization.
Notably, Ham initiated a $156 million project focusing on advanced integrated agro-processing industrial parks, aiming to add value to Uganda’s agricultural produce and promote import substitution.
Beyond his business achievements, Ham is also an accomplished author. He has penned two books: “Success and Failure Based on Reason and Reality” (2018) and “Reason as the World Masterpiece” (2021). These works reflect his philosophical insights and offer guidance on achieving success through rational thinking and understanding reality.
While Ham’s professional life is well-documented, he maintains a relatively private personal life. He is a practicing Muslim, a faith that plays a significant role in his daily life and decision-making processes. Information about his immediate family, including his spouse and children, remains largely undisclosed, reflecting his preference to keep personal matters away from the public eye.
