By Our Reporter

On March 18, Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja shared an amusing moment at a Bunyoro event, revealing that one time she called First Lady Janet Museveni, only for President Yoweri Museveni to answer the phone.

Nabbanja, speaking during President Museveni’s Parish Development Model (PDM) tour, explained how she had been looking to discuss a matter “quietly” with the First Lady, without the President overhearing. However, it was President Museveni himself who picked up the phone instead.

Nelson Bwire Kapo, State House online editor, shared the light-hearted moment on X, writing: “PM Nabanjja cracks the audience, says one time she was stressed and was looking for the Education Minister (First Lady Janet Museveni ), to discuss something “quietly” without going through Pres M7’s ears. She called the First Lady tu tu .. 📞 and it’s Pres M7 who picked 🙆🏻‍♂️”

President Museveni, who is currently in Bunyoro, yesterday commended the swift progress of the Hoima City Stadium’s construction. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to sports infrastructure development.

The President, accompanied by Janet Museveni, pointed out that despite Uganda’s rich sporting history, economic challenges had hindered significant investment in sports facilities. He acknowledged that outside Namboole and Nakivubo, the country had not made much progress in stadium development. However, he assured Ugandans that change was underway.

With Uganda co-hosting the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), President Museveni stressed the importance of improving infrastructure, not only for sports but also for tourism and hospitality.

He pledged government support to encourage private sector involvement, particularly in expanding hotels in Hoima City to accommodate the expected influx of visitors during the tournament.

The President also announced plans to upgrade Akii-Bua Stadium and transform Gulu Airport into an international facility, further enhancing regional connectivity.

Praising SUMMA, the contractor behind the Hoima City Stadium project, President Museveni highlighted the rapid progress as a sign of the contractor’s efficiency and capability.

Yesterday, the President also officiated the groundbreaking ceremony for Bunyoro University, reiterating the importance of free education in government schools and the need to eradicate household poverty, ensuring that ordinary children have access to higher education.
