Elias Luyimbazi Nalukola, the newly elected Member of Parliament for Kawempe North, was officially sworn in on March 26, 2025.
Despite taking the oath just four days before the end of the month, he is set to receive his full salary and allowances for March, totaling Shs 55 million.
In addition to his salary, Nalukola will also receive a car grant of Shs 300 million before the end of the month, a privilege extended to all MPs to facilitate their movement in fulfilling their duties.
Speaker Anita Among confirmed this during his swearing-in ceremony, instructing the Clerk to Parliament, Adolf Mwesige, to ensure Nalukola receives all his entitlements immediately.
“The Clerk to Parliament is directed to provide Nalukola with all his privileges as a Member of Parliament with immediate effect,” Among stated.
“This includes a new car to facilitate his movement while carrying out his representation duties for the people of Kawempe North.”
Nalukola’s swearing-in marks the beginning of his parliamentary tenure, and his election has been well received by his constituents.
The people of Kawempe North have high expectations from their new representative and hope he will address their concerns and work towards the development of the constituency.
As he assumes office, Nalukola is expected to focus on key issues affecting his voters, including infrastructure development, improved public services, and job creation.
His ability to deliver on these expectations will determine his success and political future.
