Two robbers in the early hours of March 29, 2025, armed with a panga (a large machete) tried to rob the Seeta Sonde Myami Supermarket in Mukono Division. However, their plan completely failed, thanks to the quick-thinking supermarket workers and an unexpected hero.

According to Patrick Onyango, the spokesperson for the Kampala Metropolitan Police, the robbery attempt happened at around 12:50 AM. The two thugs stormed the supermarket, ready to steal from the store. But the staff inside did not panic. Instead, they acted fast and fought back, stopping the robbers from taking control.

At the same time, a police officer who was passing by noticed what was happening. Without hesitation, he jumped in to help.

With the officer’s assistance, the workers managed to overpower the thugs before they could harm anyone or steal anything. Their brave actions made sure that the criminals did not succeed in their mission.

The police later confirmed that the two robbers were arrested and taken into custody. The supermarket staff and the officer were praised for their courage and teamwork in stopping the crime.

This incident is a reminder that crime does not always pay. The robbers thought they would have an easy time, but instead, they ended up in police custody.

Thanks to the quick response of the supermarket workers and the timely presence of the officer, justice will be served.
