In a small village in Mukono, Uganda, Ssalongo Habibu Nsiko Nene, a 45-year-old traditional healer, has embarked on an extraordinary journey to build a lasting legacy by setting a bold goal: to father 100 children. His quest for an expansive family began in 2023 when he married seven women on the same day, a move that surprised many in his community but was a deliberate step toward achieving his dream.

Nsiko Nene firmly believes in the importance of family and the continuation of lineage. According to him, having a large family is a sign of strength, prosperity, and continuity. “I believe in family and legacy. Having many children ensures that my lineage continues,” he stated with conviction.

So far, each of his seven wives has given birth to one child, bringing his total offspring to seven. While this is just the beginning, Nsiko Nene remains steadfast in his mission and is optimistic that he will reach his target over time. His wives have embraced his vision, supporting him wholeheartedly in this ambitious endeavor. “We are all happy,” one of his wives said. “We support his dream and are ready for this journey together.”

Marrying multiple wives at once is uncommon, and Nsiko Nene’s decision drew both curiosity and skepticism from the local community. However, he saw it as a strategic move to establish a strong foundation for his goal, ensuring that he could grow his family at a steady pace. “People may not understand my decision, but I have a plan,” he explained. “I want my children to grow up together, to have a strong bond as siblings, and to continue my legacy.”

Supporting a large family is no small feat, and Nsiko Nene is well aware of the challenges ahead. However, he remains confident that his work as a traditional healer, coupled with his extensive agricultural activities, will provide the necessary resources to care for his family. He owns a substantial piece of land, where he cultivates food and medicinal herbs, ensuring a steady income and sustenance for his household.

Beyond financial considerations, Nsiko Nene is committed to ensuring that all his children receive proper education and guidance. He believes that with discipline and strong family values, they will grow up to be successful and responsible members of society. “I am not just having children for the sake of numbers. I want to raise them well, educate them, and prepare them to take on the world,” he emphasized.

As his family continues to grow, many people in the village and beyond are keenly observing to see if he will indeed reach his ambitious target. Whether he succeeds or not, Nsiko Nene’s journey has already sparked conversations about family, legacy, and the cultural significance of large families in Uganda.

For now, he remains resolute, looking forward to welcoming more children into his growing household. “This is just the beginning,” he said with a smile. “The journey continues.”
