As Uganda joined the rest of the world to mark International Labour Day, Hakim Kyeswa, an aspiring candidate for NRM National Vice Chairman (Central Region), has delivered a powerful message in honour of the nation’s workers, saluting their resilience and dedication in building the country.
In his message, Kyeswa extended heartfelt greetings to workers across all sectors—farmers, entrepreneurs, industrial labourers, and youth—recognizing their indispensable contribution to Uganda’s development and economic resilience.
“Today, we celebrate the sweat, resilience, and dedication of every individual whose labour builds our communities and drives our country forward,” he said.
Kyeswa credited the visionary leadership of President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni for positioning labour at the core of Uganda’s development agenda, citing transformative government initiatives such as Emyooga and the Parish Development Model (PDM) as vital tools for empowering ordinary citizens, especially youth and farmers.
As a leader aligned with the generational cause and aiming for higher office within the National Resistance Movement (NRM), Kyeswa outlined a clear agenda to improve conditions for Ugandan workers. His focus is on:
- Advocating for fair wages and better working conditions;
- Promoting vocational and technical training to equip youth for modern economic opportunities;
- Boosting support for SMEs to create jobs at the grassroots level;
- Driving agricultural modernization to increase productivity and ensure food security.
“Labour is the backbone of our economy and the foundation of sustainable development,” he affirmed, adding, “We must build a Uganda where no worker is left behind and where prosperity is shared by all.”
Kyeswa also called for renewed patriotism and unity among Ugandans, urging all citizens to uphold the NRM’s founding values of hard work, resilience, and inclusivity.
“I salute the workers of Uganda—your labour does not go unnoticed. Let us march forward with hope, determination, and the NRM’s proven leadership toward a brighter future,” he concluded.
The aspiring Vice Chairman’s message has since been met with positive responses from grassroot supporters, particularly among youth and farming communities who see him as a bridge between legacy leadership and a new generation of forward-thinking NRM leaders.
As the road to the 2026 General Elections draws closer, Kyeswa’s commitment to labour rights and inclusive economic growth may strengthen his appeal within the Central Region and beyond.
